GCDP COUNTY CONVENTION

March 24, 2012, is the date for the Georgetown County Democratic Party to be held at Bethel AME Church 401 Broad Street in Georgetown.  Registration begins at 9:30AM and the Convention convenes at 10AM.  Coffee and pastries will be served during registration.

REGISTRATION AND DOOR PRIZE DRAWING

Delegates will have the name tag, badge, prize drawing ticket, and convention material ready and waiting for them at the registration desk on Saturday, March 24, 2012 drawing.   There are no prerequisites for attending the convention. We are trying to give you a great convention so that we are all “fired up” and ready for the campaign season.  We need to be organized, committed, and hard-working to re-elect OUR PRESIDENT.  

SPECIAL INVITED GUESTS 

SC Senator Vincent Sheheen has been invited as our special guest.    He has not been confirmed as of this date.   During his campaign for Governor, Senator Sheheen was a strong advocate for public education and he is a friend to Georgetown County. 

Democratic Candidates for County, State and Congressional offices are invited to join with us and take the opportunity to get to know voters both before and after the business portion of the Convention.  Spread the word - contact Anne Hartsell, Convention Chair for more information at 237-8925.

VIDA MILLER SCHOLARSHIP AWARD AND SPECIAL PRESENTATION

The winner of the Vida Miller Scholarship Essay Contest will be announced at the convention.  We have received several excellent essays that reflect these young people’s view of public school programs.  We have a great deal to be proud of.  Honoring Vida by establishing this scholarship in her name is another great reason to come together this year for our Party Convention. You may still donate to the Vida Miller Scholarship Fund.  Make your check payable to GCDP with a notation for the Scholarship fund and mail to GCDP at PO Box 2497 Georgetown, SC  29442  

A special presentation to the Honorable Vida Miller for her many years of service to House District 108, Georgetown County and South Carolina will be presented during the convention.

SUPPORT YOUR GEORGETOWN COUNTY DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Your donations help us provide a service to our community.  Please give whatever you can to help defray the costs of the Convention and support our County, State, and National candidates.   We know that lots of people are asking for money during this period, but your Georgetown County Democratic Party also needs your help.  Make checks payable to Georgetown County Democratic Party and mail to PO Box 2497 Georgetown SC 29442.   Also, please support your Party by volunteering to help with phone banking, canvassing, or volunteering at headquarters to make sure your local Democratic Party is able to meet the challenges of this election period and RE-ELECT OUR PRESIDENT and the Democratic slate.
