My father, the Republican

One thing. I am not going to slam my father for changing political ideology. So, you can forget about that.

What I will say, however, is I respect him as my father in making the choice he did. We're all adults here. He knows the consequences in his decision to become a Republican - or to finally admit he's one. I cannot and will not join him in that adventure.

My heart, soul and mind is with the Democratic Party. It was my father who got me active in politics. And even back then, he said to me that it didn't matter what party I supported as long as I believed in what I was doing and was dedicated towards making a difference.

Did it stun me when I received a text from him early Thursday of his intentions? Yes, it did.

But life goes on. The battle still continues.

One thing is for sure, though. Tom Swatzel can't say a word about "union bosses" anymore because he, um, has one as a member of his county GOP.

Irony...

Wanna bet?

Tom Swatzel won't move an inch. He'll continue to tell the truth, whether you or your Dad are comfortable with it or not.

As old George Wallace said, there's not a dimes worth of difference between the Democrats and Republicans! Well i guess that was before the progressives hijacked the Democrat Party so it might be up to 50 cent now.

I am glad the progressives have "hijacked" the Party. I for one, am tired of the status quo from both sides. If it were all progressive - and liberal - we'd be out of this mess by now. Let me remind you that it was progressive ideas that FDR implemented.

Yes, remember the progressive Woodrow Wilson who gave us the Federal Reserve, that's what caused the Great Depression, so that Franklin got to implement all those socalist goodies. That same privately owned banking system that Wilson gave us also put us in the mess we are into today. You need to check out the guy in Germany with the funny mustache and how he credits the progressive movements Margaret Sanger and others in the United states for his ideas on eugenics. And if you really want a good scare check into Obamas science advisor John P. Holdren and see what he would like to do to control population and the de-development of the United States and redistribution of wealth. Then ask yourself.... is this the country you want to build for your children and thier children. It sounds a little too much like China to me.
